I was in an electronics store the other day, a very large national chain (and if you follow me on Twitter, you know the name because I was so amazed at the experience that I tweeted angrily upon leaving the store) trying to purchase a Chromebook for my mother.  I knew what she needed and wanted – a laptop would be overkill and a tablet wouldn’t be quite comfortable enough for her. I stood in the store with my phone looking at a couple models and comparing features. When we made our decision, of course, the model I’d selected wasn’t in stock.  Not unusual at stores like this, I understood they were going to try to convince me that I wanted to spend more money than I really did.

But what I could not believe were the words that came out of the sales clerk’s mouth as he began his pitch: « Honey, are you SURE…
